Junior F. Franzen, 91, of Nokomis, died on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 29, at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis, with Rev. Gary Sproat officiating. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Nokomis.

Mr. Franzen was born on Aug. 30, 1927, to the late Frank and Dorothy Caroline (Siefert) Franzen. He graduated from the eighth grade at Prairie School/Fawn Creek School and enlisted in the Army. He was stationed in Fort Leonardwood, CA, and Alaska during the Korean conflict. He married Betty Mae Blazich on April 11, 1953, at St. Louis Catholic Church.

Throughout his lifetime, Mr. Franzen worked as a farmer and  was the former director of Security National Bank in Witt. He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, the Farm Bureau and the American Legion.

Mr. Franzen is survived by his wife; children, Michael Paul (Cindy) Franzen of Nokomis; Mark Franklin (Kim) Franzen of Aurora and Gail Marie (Kevin) Tuetken of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Christopher Franzen, Corey (Samantha) Franzen, Elizabeth (Jeb) Thackrey, Jeremy (companion Bailey Heintz) Tuetken, Joshua Tuetken and Jordan Tuetken; and great-grandchildren, Brady Franzen, Harper Thackrey, Kinley Thackrey, Tristan Franzen and a new baby Franzen on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Harold Franzen and Arthur Franzen.
