Karen Sue Wayne, 71, of Hillsboro, formerly of Morrisonville, died on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at 12:08 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Private family ceremonies will be held with the Rev. Dayle Badman officiating. Interment will follow the ceremonies at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Litchfield. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home of Morrisonville is assisting the family.

Ms. Wayne was born Nov. 19, 1948, in Litchfield, to Melvin and Shirley (Jones) Wempen, Sr. She married Perry Wayne of Fillmore, and they later divorced.

She graduated from Morrisonville High School with the class of 1966, and went on to earn her beautician’s license from the Taylorville School of Cosmetology.

Ms. Wayne owned and operated salons in Morrisonville, Taylorville, Hillsboro and Irving. Later in life, she worked for Alco and eventually retired from Addus HealthCare.

She was a past member of the United Methodist Church of Morrisonville, and enjoyed doing a variety of craft projects and flower arranging.

Ms. Wayne is survived by her parents of Morrisonville; brothers, Melvin (wife MaDonna) Wempen, Jr. of Raymond and Kurt (wife Janet) Wempen of Morrisonville; sister, Connie (husband Jim) Young of New Windsor; eight nieces; one nephew; and several cousins.
