Katherine Caroline Clinard, 80, of Hillsboro, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2020, at 4 p.m. at Willowbrook Memory Care in Vandalia. 

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A private family funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Ward of Hillsboro officiating. Private family burial will be held in Wares Grove Cemetery in rural Butler. CDC guidelines will be followed, and everyone is asked to use masks and social distancing.

Mrs. Clinard was born Sept. 18, 1939, in Hillsboro, to the late Ernest Edward and Pauline (Niehaus) Hoffman. She married William Harrel Clinard on Aug. 21, 1959, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, and he survives.

She was a 1957 graduate of Hillsboro High School. She worked at Montgomery County National Bank in Hillsboro, owned and operated Henry’s Greenhouse in Hillsboro, and was an identification technician for the Illinois Department of Corrections. After retirement, she worked for Pegasus’ Travel in Hillsboro. 

A member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, she served on the Hillsboro Unit School District Board, and was the first woman to serve as a board member and also as president. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and she loved to bowl, travel and gamble.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Michelle (husband Junior) Whitlow of Hillsboro, Duane (wife Deanna) Clinard of Irving and Stacey (husband Randy) Ward of Hillsboro; nine grandchildren, Brandi (husband Justin) Reynolds, Stephanie (husband Nate) Tyson, Danny (friend Genie Fragale) Whitlow, Shaun (wife Stephanie) Clinard, Brooke (husband AJ) Mullink, Blake Clinard, Kayli Ward, Tressie Clinard and Brodie Clinard; eight great-grandchildren, Lux Reynolds, Adi Tyson, Jade Reynolds, Dalani Tyson, Logan Clinard, Quinevere Law, Gunner Clinard and Maya Estell; and cousin, Nanci Hertel of Hillsboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
