Kathryn Ann "Kathy" (Strode) Beam, 68, of Riverton, formerly of Pawnee, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Chuck Kurfman officiating. Burial will take place at Cumberland Sugar Creek Cemetery in Glenarm.
Mrs. Beam was born Jan. 28, 1950, in Springfield, to Robert and Joella E. (Harlan) Strode. She married William "Bill" R. Beam, Jr., on Dec. 8, 1967, at Pawnee United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death.
She attended Pawnee schools, and was employed as a licensed practical nurse for 23 years. She retired from HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield after more than nine years of service.
Mrs. Beam enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren, cooking, baking and planting her perennial flower beds.
She is survived by two daughters, Trisa Beam of Harvel and Lyndi (husband David) Lowe of Pawnee; a son, Jason (wife Rebecca) Beam of Pawnee; six grandchildren, Madison Lowe, Hanna and Ethan Beam and Hailey, Katie and Abby Judge; two brothers, Bob Strode of DuQuoin and Dale "Gene" Strode of Girard; a sister, Alice (husband Kevin) Heissinger of Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Barb Curtis of Mt. Zion and Marti Curtis of Tennessee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
