Kathryn Gartner, 86

Kathryn Ann (Bean) Gartner, 86, of Peoria, formerly of Hillsboro, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at 2:03 p.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Cremation rites were accorded.  Graveside memorial services for Hugo and Kathryn Gartner will be held Monday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville with Richard Small of Hillsboro officiating.

Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gartner was born on March 29, 1930, in Decatur, the daughter of the late Haldane and Agnes (Cutler) Bean. She married Hugo Adolph Gartner on April 19, 1962, in Urbana, and he preceded her in death on May 20, 2013.  

She was a graduate of Urbana High School in Urbana and received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois. She worked for a text book publisher and was a retired school teacher.  She had taught at Princeton for three years. 

During her lifetime Mrs. Gartner lived in Decatur, Blue Mound, Urbana, Cherokee Village, AR, Hillsboro and Peoria. She was a member of AAUW and the Methodist church.

She is survived by three children, Wendy Bloom of Michigan, Kyna Glover of Boulder, CO, and Aric Gartner of Pekin; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marjory McDowell and Norma Bean.
