“Kathy” (Kappel) Pennock Summers, 72

Andrea Kathryn “Kathy” (Kappel) Pennock Summers, 72, of Raymond, died on Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, in her home.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. A Celebration of Life service will follow, beginning at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Tom Mulch officiating. A private burial service will be held at Green Pond Cemetery in Pearl at a later date. Those attending are asked to adhere to CDC guidelines by wearing masks and social distancing.

Mrs. Summers was born June 17, 1948, in Alton, to Adrian and Doris (Talkington) Kappel. She married Arnold Pennock. She later married Dale R. Summers on Sept. 5, 2001, and he preceded her in death.

During her career, she had worked and managed the Spring Air Cafe, later owning and operating the White Cottage Cafe in Raymond.

Mrs. Summers took an active part in her community, currently serving as a village trustee, and had proudly done so for the past 13 years. She had served on nearly every committee and was currently head of the Finance Committee and served on the Water and Sewer and Economic Development committees.

She was active in the Business and Professional Women’s Group, the Women of the Moose Lodge #1259 in Carlinville and the American Legion Post #299.

Mrs. Summers is survived by her sons, Robert (wife Tracy) Pennock of Raymond and Adrian Pennock of Morrisonville; four grandchildren, Adam (wife Kayla) Pennock of Litchfield, Emma Pennock of Taylorville, Logan Pennock of Morrisonville and Abby Owens of Farmersville; two great-grandchildren, Jace and Josie; companion, Larry Lewis of Raymond; three sisters, Ruth (Dan) Goodrich of Shipman, Joan Hartsock of Brighton and Amy (Aaron) McWard of Raymond; one brother-in-law, Jim “Toby” Lush of Carlinville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Lush and Teresa Jean Kappel; nephew, Danny Goodrich; and brother-in-law, Randy Hartsock.

Memorials may be directed to the Women of the Moose Lodge #1259 in Carlinville or the Raymond-Harvel Ambulance.
