Kay (Hermsmeyer) Kasten, 70, of Petersburg, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at 6:41 p.m. in her home.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Graveside services will immediately follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg. Hurley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kasten was born April 26, 1949, in Litchfield, to Dr. Carl and Joyce Hermsmeyer. She married William Kasten, and he survives.
A graduate of Litchfield High School and Brown's Business College in Springfield, she worked many years at the Petersburg Observer and State of Illinois EPA.
She was an excellent cook, but her rhubarb pie was her specialty. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Tara (husband Dane) Cox; granddaughter, Bailey Cox; grandson, Hayden Cox; a brother, David (wife Toni) Hermsmeyer; a sister, Beth (husband Bob) Harmon; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
