Ken C. Christian, 59, of Harrisburg, died Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 10:34 a.m. at his residence.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 15, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Ward of Hillsboro officiating. Cremation rites were accorded.

Mr. Christian was born July 4, 1959, in Hillsboro, the son of the late George K. and Marlene D. (Collins) Christian. He married Tammie Boone on April 21, 1984, in Hillsboro, and she survives in Harrisburg.

A graduate of Hillsboro High School and Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, he was a coal miner.

During his lifetime, he lived in Hillsboro and Harrisburg. He was a member of the Hillsboro High School wrestling team and the Hillsboro All-State football team in 1977. 

He was a member of the United Miner Workers of America (UMWA), and was the neighborhood handyman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Olivia Christian (husband Dusty Brown) of Harrisburg and Braden Christian (wife Michelle Varghese) of Lisbon, Portugal; siblings, Kevin (wife Bonnie) Christian of O'Fallon and Denise Christian of Joliet; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles (wife Mary) Boone, William (wife Maryann) Boone, Rebecca Olroyd, Vincent (wife Vicki) Boone of DeKalb and Gwen (husband Bob) Frazier; niece and nephew, Cody (wife Nicole) Christian and Kelsey (husband Rob) Designe; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
