Kenneth E. “Ken” Hobbie, 91, of Mt. Zion, died at 11:01 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, with his wife by his side.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 20, beginning at 10 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church in Decatur. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., also at the church. Burial will be at Witt Cemetery in Witt. The family will meet for a procession to the graveside at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nokomis. Dawson and Wikoff Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Hobbie was born on Jan. 8, 1930, in Pana, the son of Herman and Anna (Rankin) Hobbie. He married Delores Auld on Nov. 4, 1950, and they would have celebrated 71 years of marriage this year.
Mr. Hobbie retired from Firestone Tire Company in 1992. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Family members said Mr. Hobbie never knew a stranger and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Delores, he is survived by a daughter, Pam Pickowitz of Long Creek; a son, James (Amy) Hobbie of Crowley, TX; a brotehr, David (Carol) Hobbie of Hillsboro; grandchildren Angie (Shane) Morrison of Wapella, Brian (Janelle) Pickowitz of South Bend, IN, Max Hobbie of Fort Worth, TX and Sam Hobbie of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren Brielle and Brylie Morrison and Olivia, Nora and Stella Pickowitz.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hobbie was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
