Kenneth H. Heimann, 72, of Litchfield, died Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 3:30 p.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, surrounded by his loving family.
A gathering and celebration of Mr. Heimann’s life will be announced at a later date. The Plummer Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Heimann was born Oct. 31, 1951, in Breese, a son of Edward and Genevieve (Hellman) Heimann. He was a graduate of Mater Dei High School in Breese, and graduated with the class of 1969. He married the former Christine M. Burdell on August 3, 2019, and she survives.
He attended college and studied business. Mr. Heimann entered the trucking business working for Lanter Truck Lines in Litchfield for several years. He then opened and operated his own trucking company, Nationwide Express, and operated that for several years. He then was employed with Dohrn Transfer Company and retired from there in September of 2019.
Mr. Heimann was a community volunteer and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield, VFW Post #3912 and participated with the Post Color Guard, Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634. He enjoyed grilling food for various functions and fundraisers and for family functions. He also enjoyed playing cornhole, golfing and shooting darts.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sherri (Troy) Yarber and Kristie (Jim) Burns; five grandchildren, Jordyn and Karsen Yarber, Emma, Addison and Owen Burns; six brothers, Edward G. Heimann, Mike (Vicki) Heimann, Ron Heimann, Allen (Sharon) Heimann, Danny Heimann and Timothy (Cindy) Heimann; three sisters, Geri Von Hatten, Nancy Schlarmann and Joyce (Curt) Nobis; several nieces, nephews and cousins; pets, dog Oscar and cats Marvin and Lucy; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Fran Burdell; and brothers-in-law, Roger (Pam) Burdell and Raymond (Andrea) Burdell.
Mr. Heimann is preceded in death by his parents; a brother Tom; sister Mary; nephew, Greg Heimann; niece, Beverly Schlarmann; and brothers and sister-in-law’s, Judy Heimann, Dan Von Hatten and Joe Schlarmann.
