Kenneth James Jett, Sr., 96, of Litchfield, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, at his residence.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at South Side Church, located at 500 S. Illinois Street in Litchfield. Funeral services will begin at noon with the Rev. Nathan Diveley officiating. Private family burial will be in Hart Cemetery. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jett was born March 12, 1927, in Butler, to John Martin and Cleo Marie (Taylor) Jett. He married Phyllis Jeffers on Dec. 16, 1967, and she survives.

He started work for his father on their farm, did some construction and railroad work for Webco and worked in maintenance and for the boiler system at Echlin in Litchfield.A trustee of South Litchfield Township, he enjoyed hunting and shooting at the Litchfield Sportsman Club. He was a member of the South Side Church in Litchfield, and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Jett is survived by his wife; children Richard Jett of Greenfield, Sue (Dennis) Eller of Ava, MO, Tim (Della) Jett of Davenport, IA, Thomas James Jett of Coffeen, Tena Cooks of Davenport, IA, Kenneth J. Jett, Jr (companion Brendan Berg) and Scott (Tara) Jett of Litchfield; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and  one sister-in-law, Ginger Jett of Litchfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Walter Eugene Jett, Julie Golden and Robert Jett and siblings John, Tom, Gerald, Pearl, Earl, Harold and Elsie Jett, Bernice Fenton and Etta Miller.
