Kenneth Leroy Casey, 87, of Vandalia, died on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at 2:15 a.m. at Fayette County Hospital and Long Term Care in Vandalia.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 14, at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia with Pastor Terry Sapp officiating. Interment was held in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia.

Mr. Casey was born July 22, 1931, in Ramsey, to Roy and Grace (Patterson) Casey. He married Verla L. Hopwood on Oct. 14, 1951, at Fillmore United Methodist Church, and she survives.

He and his wife celebrated 67 years of marriage and raised three children.

Mr. Casey was a farmer through and through, grain or beef cattle, in Fillmore, Vandalia and Summerville, MO.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Casey is survived by his daughters, Marsha (husband John) Eckhardt of Vandalia and Camilla (husband Jerry) Freeland of Peoria, AZ; son, Bob (wife Ruth Ann) Casey of Vandalia; sister-in-law, Delores Casey of Sullivan; grandchildren, Tim (Andrea) Eckhardt, Trisha (Jason) Shipley, Taffany (Ed) Hall, Trent (Taylor) Casey, Ty (Janetta) Freeland, Jamie (Joe) Schwarz, Kam (Sarah) Hill and Kyle Hill; and great-grandchildren, Alex and Austin Eckhardt, Drake Hall, Addison, Brodie and Gunner Casey, Lila and Elle Freeland, Paxton Schwarz, Kanon Hill and Emaleah Mays.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a baby sister; brother, Loren Casey; and two sisters-in-law.
