Kenneth Wayne Meyer, 84, of Hillsboro, died on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at 8:05 p.m. at his residence.

Visitation will be held on  Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 11:00 a.m. to noon at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will begin at noon at the funeral home, with Rev. James Hayes, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church in Hillsboro and Mark Jagosh of Hillsboro officiating. Burial will be at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family with arrangements.  

Mr. Meyer was born on May 23, 1935, in Litchfield, to William H. and Esther (Streigel) Meyer. He married Beverly Atterberry on Jan. 1, 1959, at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. A veteran of the US Army, Mr. Meyer was stationed in Germany during the last part of the Korean War. 

Mr. Meyer lived in Litchfield and Hillsboro for most of his life and was employed as a truck driver and a coal miner. He loved pitching horseshoes, bowling, boating and motorcycles.

Mr. Meyer is survived by his wife; children, Lori (Meyer) Buckley of Hillsboro and John Meyer of Taylor Springs; grandchildren,  Joshua Seward, Elisabeth Carpenter, Zachary Meyer, Jake Meyer and Abby Meyer; great-grandchildren,   Mordecai and Ezekiel Carpenter; and siblings, Earl Meyer of Forsyth, MO, Marvella Carney of Gillespie and Delores Egelhoff of Litchfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children,  Tony Meyer and Jerry Meyer; and brother, Delmar Meyer.
