Litchfield's Rich Komor picked up his second straight win on Saturday, July 27, following up a victory at Gateway with a win in the Ron "Papa" Zinn Memorial Race at Coles County Dragway in Havana.
One of 92 cars entered in the pro class at CCD, Komor was unbeaten in nine rounds of racing as he drove his 1969 Chevrolet Nova to a win over Russ Jeppson of Decatur in the final. Komor ran a 6.942 on a 6.89 dial at 95.12 miles per hour.
"There were so many signs of unbelievable sportsmanship it's near impossible to mention them all," Rod Viehland of Coles County Dragway said of the event. "Let’s just say it was a normal day at CCD with the family of racers just coming together and having "FUN" just like Papa Zinn would've wanted."
David Hearn would also make the trip from Litchfield to Havana. Hearn would make it to the fifth round of super pro and the third round of the pro division before bowing out.
