Komor Snags Gamblers Win In Havana

Posted

It was a big weekend at the Central Illinois Dragway in Havana, with more than 180 entries in their $5,000 feature event. But before the big money race on Sept. 5, Litchfield racer Rich Komor picked up a nice chunk of change by winning the gamblers race on Sept. 4. The event also featured a junior dragster race, with Timothy Hearn one of the more than 20 entries, and a record setting performance by Chuck Baird and the Wild Side Racing Team, who set a track record elapsed time of just 3.55 seconds in an eighth of a mile at 228 miles per hour. In addition to Komor and Hearn, local racers Phil Bryant, Dustin Bryant, Corey Wood and Roger Burdell also made the trip to Havana.
