Kurt W. Schmedeke, 65, of Irving, died on Friday, April 23, 2021, at 3:04 p.m.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 30, beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Hemken, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, and Pastor Sue Bryce of United Methodist Church in Irving, co-officiating. Burial will follow at Irving Cemetery.

Mr. Schmedeke was born Feb. 17, 1956, in Hillsboro, to Cecil A. Schmedeke and Juanita (Bailey) Schmedeke Keiser.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School. During his career, he worked in the kitchen at the Red Rooster Inn in Hillsboro, then at Lomas Del Sol Mexican Restaurant in Hillsboro, before retiring in 2018.

A lifelong Irving resident, Mr. Schmedeke was a member of the United Methodist Church in Irving.

He is survived by his mother of Irving; siblings, Kyle (wife Deneta) Schmedeke and Karis Schmedeke, both of Irving; one niece; four nephews; and one great-nephew.

Mr. Schmedeke was preceded in death by his father; brother, Kent Schmedeke; and one nephew.
