The Lincolnwood volleyball team picked up another victory on Tuesday, Oct. 15, beating Mt. Olive to up their record to 22-7 on the year.
The Lancers would win 25-18 in the first game of their sixth MSM Conference match of the year, then finished off the host Wildcats with a 25-17 final score in game two. The win was Lincolnwood's fifth conference victory of the season.
Coach Kimberly Denney's club would get contributions all over the court, including some from the Lincolnwood freshmen.
Jasmine Vickery would be one of those ninth graders to step up on varsity, putting down a team-best eight points and three aces. Vickery also had a pair of digs on the defensive side.
Avery Pope would also have a solid game with 12 assists, two points, two digs and a kill, while another LHS freshman, Haelee Dam had a pair of kills in the win.
The veteran Lancers were no slouches in the win either. Senior Madison Krager tied for the team lead in kills with six, while fellow senior Kyra Shull had five points, two digs and an ace.
Junior Lexie Millburg finished with six points and tied for the team lead in aces with three. She also led the way in digs, with nine.
Her classmate Katelyn Payne tied for the team lead in kills, with six.
Another junior, Cassie Krager, led the team in blocks, with three. Krager also had four kills, seven digs, two points and an ace.
Maggie McClelland would add a block on the defensive end, while sophomore Sidney Glick added four points, two aces, eight digs and one kill.
The victory came on the heels of a three set loss to Staunton the day before, just the seventh loss of the season for the Lancers.
The Lady Bulldogs won with matching scores of 25-12 and 25-12, with a 25-22 victory by Lincolnwood sandwiched in between.
Maggie McClelland led the team with five points and a pair of aces, while Sidney Glick and Lexie Millburg added four points apiece.
Cassie Krager led the team in kills with nine, while Katelyn Payne and Madison Krager had six each. Avery Pope led the team in assists with 15. Payne would also lead the team in blocks with 2.5, while Millburg led the way in digs with 13. Cassie Krager, Sidney Glick and McClelland also contributed defensively with 12, 11 and nine digs respectively.
