The Litchfield girls golf team welcomed some of their toughest competition yet to their home course on Tuesday, Sept. 10, as they hosted a five team match at the Litchfield Country Club.
The Panthers would land in the middle of the pack, falling to two talented squads in Auburn and Alton Marquette, while beating two South Central Conference foes, Greenville and Roxana.
The Lady Panthers would shoot a 202 on the day to finish 27 strokes ahead of Greenville and 44 strokes in front of Roxana. Auburn would take the top spot with a 176, while Alton Marquette was second with a 184, behind medalist Gracie Piar's 1-over-par 38.
The young Panthers would be led again by Laura Boston, who shot an 8-over 45 on the day. Carly Guinn would be four strokes behind her with a 49, while Hailey Rentz and Alyssa Loyd added in scores of 54. Jordan Ramey also played for Litchfield and finished with a 62.
For their next match, Litchfield will travel to Clover Leaf Golf Course on Thursday, Sept. 12, for a quad match with host Civic Memorial, Roxana and Staunton.

Boston Strong At Lakeshore
Litchfield's Anthony Boston would take medalist honors in the Panthers' match at Lakeshore Golf Course in Taylorville on Tuesday, Sept. 10, shooting a 2-over-par 38 to earn the top spot.
Boston's round would be two strokes better than his closest competition, Luke Boesdorfer, who led Auburn to a win over the Panthers and Taylorville at Lakeshore.
In addition to Boston, Keagan Marten finished with a 50 for the Purple Panthers, while Allen Schneider added a 52. Zach Boston would have the final scoring round with a 57, while Blake Rentz and Kelvin Dooley were Litchfield's fifth and sixth men, each shooting 60.
As a team the Panthers would finish with a 197, putting them in the middle of the triangular standings. Auburn would take the top spot with a 173, while Taylorville was third on their home course with a 211.
Litchfield, who played at Vandalia with Christ Our Rock Lutheran on Wednesday, will be back in action next Monday, Sept. 16, at the Carlinville Country Club, where they will take on the host Cavaliers and Southwestern.
