Prior to their match-up with Hillsboro at the T. Todt Shootout, the Lincolnwood girls basketball team played host to South County on Thursday, Dec. 12.
The Vipers would come away with a 53-7 victory over the home team, with 11 different players scoring for South County.
The visitors would hold a 20-2 lead after one quarter and a 34-4 margin at the half. Sydney Herman and Maggie McClelland would account for the baskets for the Lancers.
Lincolnwood’s defense would step up in the second half and held South County to 15 fewer points in the third and fourth quarters. In the third, South County managed just five points, with Cassie Krager scoring Lincolnwood’s two points as they trailed 39-6 going into the fourth quarter.
The Vipers would finish off the win with a 14-1 fourth quarter advantage, with Haelee Damm scoring a free throw to account for Lincolnwood’s point.
The Lady Lancers were scheduled to play Tri-City and Greenfield-Northwestern on Dec. 16 and 17, but the snow forced the cancellation of those games. Lincolnwood’s next contest will be on Monday, Jan. 6, when they take on the Litchfield Lady Panthers in Raymond.
