LaMoine Earl Reeves, 89, of Donnellson, died on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 7:15 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Sands, pastor of the Free Methodist Church of Hillsboro officiating. Burial will follow in Donnellson Cemetery in Donnellson.

Mr. Reeves was born July 2, 1931, in Sorento, to Dwight and Evelyn (Lewis) Reeves. He married Mary Jean Davis on Aug. 23, 1958, in Hillsboro, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 2015.

Mr. Reeves served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict on the aircraft carrier, WASP. 

He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and  attained his bachelors in education, as well as a masters in administration from Greenville College. 

Mr. Reeves was a retired educator, having served as a teacher and principal of Coffeen Elementary School for 31 years.  

He was a member of the Coffeen Lions Club, Hillsboro Area Hospital Board, Hillsboro Education Foundation and had served on several other boards.

Mr. Reeves loved being an educator, spending time with his family, his dogs and his antique GMC truck. Mr. Reeves lived in the Donnellson area most of his life, and in Kalamazoo, MI, and Morton for a short time in his younger years.

Mr. Reeves is survived by one son, Geoff (wife Theresa) Reeves of Hillsboro; daughter-in-law, Nancy Reeves of Donnellson; three grandchildren, Paige (husband Ryan) Farmer of Hillsboro, Payton Reeves of North Hollywood, CA, and Kelli Reeves of Donnellson; two brothers, Fred (wife Bonnie) Reeves of Mason City and Roger (wife Kathy) Reeves of Hillsboro.

Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Lucille (Neece) Reeves; one son, Dwight Roger “Doc” Reeves; and one sister, Myrna Marti.
