Lancers Finish Second At Petersburg Match

It was another close match for the Lincolnwood boys golf team as the Lancers finished second in a quad match at Shambolee Golf Course in Petersburg.

Just five strokes separated the top three teams, with the hosts from PORTA High School shooting a 165 to take the top spot. Lincolnwood came in four strokes behind the Bluejays with a 169, while Auburn was third with a 170. Beardstown rounded out the team standings shooting a 220 on the day.

Lincolnwood’s Nate Brockmeyer once again grabbed a share of the top individual spot, shooting a 2-over-par 38 to tie Auburn’s Logan Kavish. Brockmeyer, who has been medalist or co-medalist multiple times this year, had three pars and two birdies on the day, including a four on the par-5 10th hole.

While that was good, it wasn’t the Lancers best effort on the 10th. That honor went to Lance Weitekamp, who eagled the hole en route to a 6-over-par 42 for Lincolnwood.

Levi Weir added in a 43, while fellow senior Will Jenkins added a 46. The pair combined for nine pars, with Weir sinking five and Jenkins adding four.

Brady Schmedeke and Colton Tischkau also played for the Lancers, shooting a 48 and a 50. The wins helped Lincolnwood post a final regular season record of 23-6 on the year.
