The Lincolnwood soccer team brought a five game losing streak to a halt on Thursday, Oct. 3, with a 2-0 victory over Greenville at Terry Todt Field in Raymond.
The win also came on senior night, with Cassie Bradbury, Natalia Cina, Richard Tego and Evan Hopper honored along with their parents prior to the start of Thursday’s tilt. It would be one of those seniors who got the Lancers on the board first as Hopper found the back of the net midway through the opening half. The goal was Hopper’s 16th of the season.
Junior Filip Kates would tack on an insurance goal for the Lancers as Austin Gwinn and the Lincolnwood defense closed out the shutout with a scoreless second half.
Unfortunately, the Lancers found themselves on the other end of a 2-0 result on Saturday as they fell to Breese Central by the same margin on the Cougars’ home field.
Now 6-11-2 on the season, Lincolnwood has three regular season games left on the schedule, all on the road, starting with Carlinville on Oct. 7. After that they will play at Springfield Calvary on Oct. 8 and at Williamsville on Oct. 10.
The Lancers’ first regional game will be on the road at Pana on Friday, Oct. 11, at 4:30 p.m.
