After back-to-back-to-back losses, the Lincolnwood soccer team released some pent up frustration on the Vandalia Vandals on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Terry Todt Field in Raymond.
The Lancers led 6-0 at halftime against the Vandals, en route to a 9-1 victory that ended a three-game losing skid.
Lincolnwood's Evan Hopper and Benny Clavin both collected hat tricks in the win, with Hopper also assisting on three goals. Sophomore Luke Webb would add in a pair of goals, while senior Richard Tego scored his first varsity goal. Elijah Aumann also contributed to the scoring, netting two assists in the game.
The day before the win over Vandalia, the Lancers faced off against North Mac at Terry Todt Field in Raymond. The Panthers would score early and held a 2-0 halftime lead before finishing off the Lancers with a 5-2 victory.
Lincolnwood would have their chances, particularly in the final ten minutes of the first half, but hard shots by Evan Hopper and Benny Clavin missed wide to keep the North Mac lead at 2-0 at the break.
Nine minutes into the second half, Kaedyn Royer chipped in a shot on a loose ball that gave the Panthers a 3-0 advantage and momentum. It nearly became 4-0 a minute later, but a nice play by Lincolnwood keeper Austin Gwinn kept a ricochet off the bar from breaking the plain of the goal at the last second.
With 18 minutes to play, Lincolnwood cut the lead to two. On a free kick by Levi Weir, Evan Hopper flicked a header back to Gavin Lipe. Lipe would collect the ball and put a hard, low ball toward the far post.
Cassie Bradbury would charge in and slide to get a foot on Lipe's ball, redirecting it into the net to make it 3-1.
Lipe would get a goal of his own with 7:50 to play, but North Mac would add two more in between the two Lincolnwood scores for insurance.
Lincolnwood senior Evan Hopper scored his 11th goal of the season on Saturday, Sept. 14, but the Lancers would fall to Pleasant Plains 6-1 at Terry Todt Field in Raymond.
The Cardinals would hold a 3-0 lead at halftime, with Evan Saebeler accounting for two of the scores. Saebeler was far from done though as he scored twice more to start the second half for a four goal day.
Sam Shea and Kasra Nassirpour would have the Plains' other two goals and five assists between them.
Hopper, who has scored in seven of Lincolnwood's ten games and all four wins, was assisted by Benny Clavin, his second assist of the season.
On Friday, Sept. 20, the Lancers will be at home at Terry Todt Field for the fourth straight game. Their opponent on Friday will be Springfield Lutheran, who is 8-2 on the season.
