Lancers Win, Toppers Improve At Vandalia


The Lincolnwood girls golf team picked up their 20th and 21st wins of the season on Thursday, Sept. 26, while the Hillsboro girls continue to improve as the season progresses.

The Lancers would shoot a 205 to win the triangular at the Vandalia Country Club on Thursday, while Hillsboro would finish second with a 213, nine strokes ahead of third place Greenville.

Lincolnwood would be led by Sydney Herman, who was one stroke behind medalist Alicia Swain of Vandalia for medalist honors. Stephanie Perun and Jordyn Gerlach weren’t far behind their teammate with a pair of 49s, while Dorie Krager and Micah Gehlbach both shot 59s to tie for the fourth scoring round. Shelby Hattenbach also had one of her better rounds in the sixth spot, shooting a 60 on the par 35 course.

Hillsboro’s line-up would be dotted with season-best scores as they continue to shave strokes off their game. Felisity Luevano and Anna Colwell turned in season best scores with a 56 and a 54 respectively, while Meagan Jorn was just a few strokes off her top mark with a 54 as well.

Erin Kistner also had one of her better rounds of the season with a 49, just two strokes away from the medalist spot. Alex Frailey and Aurelie Granito also shot their best scores of 2019 with a 59 and a 63 on the day.

Hillsboro will close out their season on Monday, Sept. 30, at Indian Springs for the South Central Conference Tournament. Lincolnwood will play on Monday as well, against Auburn and South County at Edgewood Golf Course in Auburn.
