Larry G. Hockett, 76, of Springfield, died on Friday, June 5, 2020, at 11:20 p.m. at his residence.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home in Springfield, 900 South 6th Street. Masks will be required and it will be limited to ten guests at one time. A graveside ceremony will be conducted Friday, June 12, beginning at 11 a.m. at St. Raymond Cemetery in Raymond with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Butler Funeral Home in Springfield is assisting the family.

Mr. Hockett was born Aug. 1, 1943, to Edwin E. and Alice Agnes (Owens) Hockett. He married Jane R. Marten on Sept. 16, 1967, in Raymond, and she survives.

He attended school at Labette County Community High School in Altamont, KS.

Mr. Hockett was the former owner and operator of Hockett Heating and Cooling. He retired as a ranger with the Department of Natural Resources at Jim Edgar Panther Creek SFWA and had a real interest in the preservation of our natural resources.

He belonged to the Springfield Crappie Club. Aside from fishing, he also enjoyed hunting, camping, working in the yard, woodworking and fixing just about anything.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hockett is survived by his sisters, Sandy Dyke of Thayer, KS, Patricia Hockett of Olathe, KS, Bonnie (Maynard) Wells of Alamo, TX, Marie (Gary) Addison on Memphis, TN, and Diana Hockett of Bartlesville, OK; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Debra Rapson; and nephew, Nathan Forrest.
