Larry Winston Baugh, 86, of Litchfield, died Monday, April 29, 2019, at 12:25 a.m. at St. Joseph's Home in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 2, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ed Fogle officiating. Burial will be held in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mr. Baugh was born Nov. 16, 1932, in Carlinville, a son of Ralph William and Goldie Florence (Jouett) Baugh. He married the former Shirley Maxine Whitsell on Jan. 14, 1952, in Dixon, and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2019. In January 2019, they celebrated 67 years of marriage.

A graduate of Gillespie High School with the class of 1950, he studied at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for one year following graduation.

He was the materials manager and the head of purchasing at Shell Oil Company in the research and development lab for 22 years.  He was passionate about farming and farmed for many years west of Litchfield.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Litchfield, he was treasurer of the Litchfield Sportsman's Club for several years. He was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau. 

He helped develop skeet field and taught shooting skills at Brittany Shooting Park in Bunker Hill. He was very proficient with welding, mechanical skills, building and plumbing.

He is survived by three sons, Wendell (Kathy) Baugh of Gillespie, Loren (Nancy) Baugh of Benld and Dale (Laura) Baugh of Staunton; three daughters, Janet Keistler of Springfield, Joyce (Roger) Fath of Hillsboro and Jacquelyn Niehaus of Litchfield; nine grandchildren, Stacey (Jennifer) Baugh, Jennifer Curtis, Evan (Beth) Baugh, Kristin (Matt) Armitage, Daniel (Ashley) Baugh, Julie Nelson, Chelsea Lapolice, Eric (Kaitlyn) Fath and Adam (Kayla) Fath; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Randall Baugh; one brother, Roy Baugh; and one son-in-law, Hal Keistler.
