Master Sgt. Larry W. Eason, ISP, 68 of Highland, died on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at HSHS Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 12,, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan L. Perry officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery. Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Easton was born on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 1955, in E. St. Louis, the son of Floyd and Dixie (nee Stack) Eason. He married Patrice C.  Robinson  Eason on Monday, May 26, 1986,
in Belleville.

Born in East St. Louis, Mr. Eason’s family moved to Mascoutah while he was in high school. He graduated from Mascoutah High School. He served 4 years with the U.S. Air Force including duty in Thailand.

Mr. Eason was a member of Fraternal Order of Police.He was an officer for the O’Fallon Police Department until joining the Illinois State Police on Nov. 6, 1978. He was a master sgt. with many years on the mid-night shift and also working the “Truck Team.” Mr. Eason retired from the ISP on Jan. 31, 2006. At his retirement he was master sgt. over the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers.

Mr. Eason and his family had moved to Highland in the mid-1990’s. After his retirement he became chief of police in Vandalia, from March 8, 2007 to May 16, 2013. The Easons lived in Vandalia from 2006 until 2013, when they moved back to Highland.

Mr. Eason loved being with his wife and daughter, going to movies, going out to dinner and attending St. Louis Cardinal Baseball games. He was a true St. Louis Blues hockey and Cardinal baseball fan. Reading was a passion of his, he also wrote several novels. He was always playing card games and board games with his daughter.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughter, Alyssa N. (Partner Nathan J. Huber) Eason of Saint Louis, MO; and siblings, Margaret Eason of Troy, David Eason of O’Fallon and Shirley Eason of Troy.
