Laura Lee McIlvoy, 77, of Glen Carbon, died Thursday, Aug. 15, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9 to 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Granite City. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Jennifer Hauser officiating. Private family burial will be held at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville. Irwin Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McIlvoy was born Aug. 9, 1942, in East St. Louis, a daughter of the late James William and Florence Ethel (Hall) McPhail, Sr. She married the love of her life Charles William McIlvoy on Sept. 21, 1963, in St. Louis, MO, and he survives.

A faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Granite City, she retired as a registered nurse from Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, after many years of dedicated service. 

She loved life, loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by loving daughters, Mary Ellen Mathews of Hillsboro and Melissa (Bryan) Blackford; grandchildren, Kimberlee Mathews and John Smallwood; and many extended family and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Luke Blackford; son-in-law, Michael Mathews; and brothers, James William McPhail, Jr., and Charles Ray McPhail.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Granite City. Donations will be accepted at the church.
