LaVerne Rose Frost, 82, of Springfield, formerly of Taylorville and Buffalo, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at 12:20 p.m. at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. A private family burial will be held in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

Mrs. Frost was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Morrisonville, the daughter of Everett V. and Rachel L. (Langen) Loman. She married Charles Leaton Frost on July 13, 1955, in Taylorville, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2020.

A graduate of Morrisonville High School, she started working for Illinois Bell. She then went to work for Westlake Equipment Company for 15 years and then the U.S. Postal Service until her retirement after ten years of service.

She was a member of South Tower Community Church, where she volunteered as a librarian, was a leader of the Ladies Ministries, and Church of God, where her husband was a pastor. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting, painting and genealogy.

Mrs. Frost is survived by three sons, Mark (wife Linda) of Owaneco, Jerals “Jerry” (wife Shirley) of Edinburg and Charles “Matt” Frost of Springfield; two daughters, Jean (husband Greg) Rathgeber and Mary Everson, all of Springfield; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
