Lawrence R. Schneck, 85, of Litchfield, died on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Bria Nursing Home in Alton.

Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 30, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Litchfield VFW Post 3912, located at 215 West Ryder Street. Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston is assisting the family.

Mr. Schneck was born June 26, 1937, to Emil and Callie Fay (Brown) Schneck. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a lifetime member and former commander of the AMVETS Post 16 in Litchfield. Mr. Schneck worked as a farmhand and road construction laborer for many years. He was a member of the Laborer’s Local 397 in Edwardsville. An avid fisherman, he didn’t shy away from the occasional “horse-trading” opportunities. He will be fondly remembered as quite the jokester, teasing and pranking his numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schneck is survived by his children, Raymond J. Schneck of Edwardsville and Robin L. Schneck of Maryville; sister, Laura Jean Kessler of Litchfield; two brothers, Leonard (Betty) Schneck of Leesburg, FL, and Jerry Schneck of Sorento; three sisters-in-law, Mossie Schneck and JoAnn Schneck, both of Litchfield, and Joanne Schneck of New Douglas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry Schneck, Eldon Schneck and Edward “Bud” Schneck; and brother-in-law, James Kessler.
