Leon Leslie Warnsing, 90, of Raymond, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at his home.

No services are planned at this time. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family.

Mr. Warnsing was born Jan. 1, 1929, the son of Ross and Bertha (White) Warnsing in Rountree Township in Montgomery County. He married Martha Ann Bergschneider on Dec. 13, 1957, in Springfield, and she survives.

A 1947 graduate of Nokomis High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in December 1948. He served until September 1952, when he was honorably discharged as staff sergeant.

He was a former volunteer fireman for the Raymond-Harvel Fire Department. He was employed by Panhandle School District Unit #2 for 48 years. He retired in 2004, after driving three generations of children to school. He also farmed in Rountree Township, retiring in 1991.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Daniel Warnsing of Taylorville, Gail (Tom) Irwin of Raymond and Mitchell (Susie) Warnsing of Auburn; four grandchildren, Steve (Alma) Warnsing of St. Louis, MO, Shalana (Joshua) Asaad of Taylorville, Randi (Joshua) Benedict of Fenton, MO, and Ty (Rachel) Irwin of Raymond; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Adams of Phoenix, AZ, and Rose Marie Blackburn of Taylorville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by all of his siblings, Keith Warnsing, Norma Braye and June House.
