Leona Louise (Sievers) Sewing, 97, of Mt. Olive, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at 7 p.m. at Heritage Health of Staunton.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 1:30 p.m. at the church with the Rev. James Ritter officiating. Burial will be held in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Mt. Olive. Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sewing was born April 29, 1922, in Livingston Township, to the late Herman and Minnie (Schoenemann) Sievers. She married Victor Theodore Sewing on Sept. 26, 1948, at Braunswager Church in Livingston, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1999.

She attended Braunswager Grade School in Livingston. She was a farm wife and worked with her husband on the farm.

A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive, she was a member of Lydia Circle and Lydia Circle Quilters. She was a part of the Home Mother for FHA.

She was a gifted seamstress, loved her garden, and loved playing cards with her card club.

She is survived by one son, Gary Sewing of Litchfield; four daughters, Patricia (Randy) Clemens of St. Charles, MO, Marcia Sewing of Mt. Olive, Linda (Andrew) Petroline of Staunton and Brenda (Jack) Kavanagh of Springfield; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Herman Sievers; three sisters, Alma, Esther and Wilma; and daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Sewing.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
