Leonard "Lenny" Andrew Homa, 93, of Taylor Springs, died Sunday, June 9, 2019, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Private family services will be held. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.

Mr. Homa was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Taylor Springs, to George and Mary (Mehochko) Homa. He married Phyllis Joy Short of Taylor Springs on May 21, 1960, at St. Peter and Paul Church in Springfield, and she survives.

After attending Taylor Springs Grade School and Hillsboro High School, he served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps in the southwest Pacific during WWII. He later owned and operated Homa Pabst Blue Ribbon Distributing. 

A lifetime resident of Taylor Springs, he was a member of the National Slovak Society, the Hillsboro Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus and VFW Post #1306.  He was also a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and was a Hillsboro Township trustee for 23 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Michael (Betsy) Homa of Hillsboro; two daughters, Mona (Joe) Wallace and Sally (Mike) McCoy, both of Taylor Springs; a sister, Betty Cerkoski of Gillespie; sister-in-law, Karen Smith; grandchildren, Tyka (Rhys) Fuller of Coffeen, Nick (Meghan) Homa of St. Louis, MO, Clint (Jessica) Evans of Highland, Cory (Katy) Evans of Hillsboro, Katie Homa (fiance Dylan Richter) of Chicago, Aaron (Erin) McCoy of Williamsport, MD, Cody (Kelby) McCoy of Irving, Kim Wallace of Girard and Brett (Ashley) Wallace of Hillsboro; great-grandchildren, Kohl and Lyv Fuller of Coffeen, Deklen and Finn Homa of St. Louis, MO, Harper and Claire Evans of Highland, Addi McCoy of Maryland, Rhyan Wallace of Hillsboro and Baby Evans, coming in November.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Bellavich and Leona Bosnak; and one brother, George (Duke) Homa.
