Leonard Milton Holmgrain, 90, of Litchfield, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, at Carlinville Rehab and Nursing in Carlinville.

There are no services planned for Mr. Holmgrain.

Mr. Holmgrain was born Jan. 5, 1933 in Gordon, NE, a son of Floyd Harold and Lela (Lockwood) Holmgrain.  He graduated from Gordon High School, and obtained his undergraduate degree from Chadron State College  and the University of Nebraska with a master’s degree in business and hospital administration. He and the former Marie Jean Blundell were married July 31, 1955. She preceded him in death on Sept. 22, 2022. 

Mr. Holmgrain proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed for many years as a hospital administrator at Kosciusko Hospital in Warsaw, IN. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine. He was an avid woodworker, art collector, and traveled extensively with his wife through the years.

Mr. Holmgrain is survived by his daughter, Diane Hardy of Carlinville; grandson, Joseph (Lexi) Hardy of Thayer; brother Everette (Joan) Holmgrain of South Dakota and sister Phyllis Simpson of Nebraska

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Ernest Holmgrain.
