Lesley Lynn Carol Brown-Hozian, 51, of Mascoutah, formerly of Hillsboro, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at her home in Mascoutah.
Ms. Brown-Hozian would have preferred no fanfare or formal services; one should remember her for the person she was to them.
Ms. Brown-Hozian was born September 19, 1974, in Madison, OH, and was proud to grow up as the daughter of a police officer. Relocating often due to his career, she primarily grew up in Denton, TX, where she discovered her despise for the Dallas Cowboys, and thus became a longtime die-hard fan of the San Francisco 49ers.
She began her employment at the former Montgomery Nursing and Rehab Center in Hillsboro many years ago, and due to her commitment and performance, was promoted within the larger corporation and relocated to their main office in O’Fallon about two years ago. She was wonderful with children and was a loving and dedicated mother to Austin and Madison, and was a proud godmother of Christian, Noah and Tyler Young. As a single mom, she never missed an opportunity to be present for her children.
Ms. Brown-Hozian is survived by her children, Austin (McKenzie) Ward of Chatham and Madison Brown of Mascoutah; her mother, Carol Prater of Springfield; and siblings, Jeremy Nagle, Josh Nagle, Jamie Nagle and Jared Laynen.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Nagle.
