Levern E. Yeske, 90

Levern Eugene Yeske, 90, died peacefully on Thursday, April 10, at his residence.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at noon, at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff VanDyke officiating. A private family burial will follow.

Mr. Yeske was born on April 28, 1934, the son of the late Shirley and Viola (Fesser) Yeske in Irving. He married Barbara McKinley in Peoria on March 28, 1954 and she preceded him in death.

He worked many different jobs at Caterpillar, lastly as a maintenance administrator, retiring in 1988 after 35 years. He enjoyed weekly breakfasts with other Caterpillar retirees, and several times a week he met with a group of friends in Canton for cards and fellowship. He was famous for his Hobo Dinners where neighbors, friends and family gathered at the Yeske homestead in Banner to enjoy his farm fresh food. He had recently moved in with Dennis and Rajean in Macon, GA. He loved the warm weather and delighted in the antics of his great grandchildren who lived nearby.

Mr. Yeske is survived by four sons, Keith (Billie) Yeske of Pekin, Thomas Yeske of Tyler, TX, Dennis (Rajean) Yeske of Macon, GA, and Rad Yeske of Houston, TX; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife; he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leland and Lamar Yeske, both of Witt.
