Lights Out For Sports For 2020?

Whatever slim hopes there were for even a short sports season for Illinois high school athletes may have been dashed on Friday, April 17, with Governor J.B. Pritzker’s declaration that school had been cancelled for the rest of the school year.

The IHSA Board of directors will make a final determination on the organization’s spring sports state tournaments after their meeting via video conference on Tuesday, April 21 according to a press release from Executive Director Craig Anderson.

“As we previously indicated, the cessation of in-person learning will make it difficult for the IHSA to conduct spring state tournaments this year,” Anderson said. “More information will be provided following Tuesday’s Board meeting.”
