Lila Mae (Sellers) Criswell, 87, of Hillsboro, died on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 7:56 p.m. at her residence.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 23, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, with funeral to follow at 3 p.m. also at Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev. Michael Plummer, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro.
Mrs. Criswell was born June 24, 1936, in Hillsboro, to the late Lyman and Helen Marie (Coffey) Sellers. She lived in Hillsboro all her life and, after graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1954, she married her husband, Robert Criswell, on Aug. 15, 1954. They celebrated 64 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 2018.
Mrs. Criswell spent her life as a housewife and was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Since 1944 she spent time as a bible school teacher and financial secretary for 40 years, in addition to being a longtime pianist, assistant organist, and twelve years as GA leader, substitute teacher and Sunday school secretary. She loved her family and spending time with them.
Mrs. Criswell is survived by her children, Cathy (Ed) Butler of Hillsboro and Alan (LaDeana) Criswell of Mount Vernon, IN; grandchildren, Jamie Bigge, Ashley Zentmyer and Abbie Crouch; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Zoey, Liam, Braelynn, Landon and Rykar; sisters, Beverly Ernst and Shirley Moody; sister-in-law Bea Sellers and many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Lee Butler; brother, Tom Sellers and brothers-in-law, Frank Moody and Henry Ernst.
