Lillie “Marie” Cavatorta, 104, of Tovey, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, at 4:05 p.m. at Taylorville Care Center.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Louis Kunz officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Mrs. Cavatorta was born May 20, 1916, in Benton, the daughter of Commie and Mae (Overturf) Dixon. She married Leander Curtis Byers on Dec. 27, 1932, in Taylorville, and he preceded her in death. She later married Joseph Cavatorta on Aug. 18, 1945, and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1997.

She was a proud member of Kincaid Baptist Church, and she loved to cook. She was so proud to turn 100, and the village of Tovey named a street after her.

Mrs. Cavatorta is survived by a son, Joseph (wife Sharon) Cavatorta, Jr. of Mt. Carmel; daughter, Betty Wise of Tovey; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Earl (Norma) Dixon of Morrisonville; and many friends.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Leander Curtis; daughter, Sharon; brother, John; and two sisters, Waunita and Colleen.
