Linda “Kay” Burdell, 71, of Litchfield, died on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, at 5:45 p.m. at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Southside Church in Litchfield, with the Rev. Nathan Diveley officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 8 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 9, at 2:30 p.m. Private burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting the family.
Mrs. Burdell was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on Jan. 19, 1952, to Wilbur V. and Mary K. (Wilson) Smith. She took pride in her number one job of raising her children in the ways of the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking for her family, planting flowers and caring for her hummingbirds. Mrs. Burdell was a beloved member of Southside Church for more than 40 years and enjoyed volunteering in several outreaches and ministries. She exuded the love of Christ, and her faith, strength and wisdom inspired all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Burdell; children, sons David (Tara) Burdell of Chatham and Joshua (Aimee) Burdell of Litchfield, daughter, Shannon (Charles) Diveley of Litchfield and daughter-in-law Stephanie Burdell of Springfield; brother Rick (Terry) Smith of Brunswick, MO; seven grandchildren, Hannah (Kyle) Torry, Ashton (Caleb) Crawford, Ally Burdell, Emma Diveley, Isaiah Burdell, Malachi Diveley and Noah Burdell; and one great-granddaughter, Vera Torry.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burdell was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald D. Smith and her son, Kevin V. Burdell.
