Lisa Dawn Earnest, 55, of Vandalia, formerly of Sorento, died on Sunday, June 30, 2019.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 6, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with cremation to follow. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Earnest was born in Litchfield, to Donald Ray "Buster" and Donna Jean (Griffiths) File. She married Larry Joseph Earnest on Sept. 28, 1984, in Sorento, and he survives.

She graduated from Greenville High School with the class of 1981, and obtained her master's degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut. She was employed by the Vandalia Post Office as a rural carrier for several years. She and her husband previously owned and operated The Vandalia Bowl.

In her leisure time, Mrs. Earnest enjoyed bowling, bicycle riding, crocheting and was recently learning Spanish. She had a newfound love for traveling the world and experiencing life through another's view. She also loved her dogs, watching Vanderbilt bowling and her beloved Chicago Cubs. She had many friends that she enjoyed spending time with but she especially loved her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Josie (Kyle) Barnes and Jessica (companion Ethan) Earnest, both of Nashville, TN; a grandchild on the way; her parents of Sorento; one brother, Guy File and his family of Mt. Olive; father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, Harry and Willa Earnest of Sorento; sister-in-law, Cindy Heflin; and a niece, Danielle Heflin.

Mrs. Earnest was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Euell "Doc" and Dorothy Griffiths; paternal grandparents, Clarence "Bud" and Mae File; mother-in-law, Betty Earnest; and brother-in-law, Kurt Heflin.
