Following a special meeting on Thursday evening, May 3, members of the Litchfield School Board accepted the resignations of husband and wife educators Brian and Andrea Lee of Litchfield.
The resignations were accepted following nearly two hours in closed session, unanimously by board members in attendance, including President Jen Reid, Meg Wertin, Julie Abel and Ron Anglin.
Brian Lee resigned as a Litchfield High School physical education and health teacher. Earlier this year, he resigned his position as head wrestling coach. His wife, Andrea, served as an administrator as principal at JD Colt Elementary School and Ida J. Russell Elementary School.
A native of Ashland, Andrea Lee has been hired as the principal at North Jacksonville Elementary School, starting on July 1. She had been an administrator in the Litchfield School District for 12 years.
Both resignations are effective at the end of the 2017-2018 school year.
Before going into closed session, the board unanimously approved an intergovernmental agreement with the city of Litchfield in support of the TIF (tax increment financing district). During the regular April meeting, the board approved a letter of support for the city, but this motion was an official intergovernmental agreement. Under the terms, the district will receive a portion of surplus funding from the TIF.
The next regular meeting of the Litchfield School Board will be Tuesday evening, May 15, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Radius Room at Litchfield High School.
