Posted

The theme of the 2018 Litchfield Chamber of Commerce Christmas event is Christmas Movies and the Litchfield Chamber has plenty of  holiday outings planned to ignite the community's Christmas spirit.

The event packed season will start with a chance for five people to win a $100 shopping spree at participating businesses. The promotion begins on Saturday, Nov. 17, and runs through Friday, Dec. 7.

Litchfield shoppers may register for a chance to win one of five $100 shopping sprees at participating businesses. The five lucky winners will be announced on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Library Park following the Christmas Parade.

The Christmas Movies event is set to start at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, with the Holiday Walk, where participating businesses will have sales, promotions and refreshments for walkers.

The Litchfield Train Group will host a model railroad open house from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ameriprise Financial Building, located at 510 North State Street.

The Lighted Christmas Parade is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. There is still time to register for the Christmas movie-themed parade and participants have the chance to win a prize.

Float entries will be judged for first, second and third place cash prizes of $100, $75 and $50. Individual parade participants will be judged in the brackets of zero to two years old, three to five years old, six to eight years old, and nine to 12 years old.

Each of the bracket winners will be awarded two Westside Cinema tickets and a book. The judging will take place during the parade lineup at 5 p.m. at the Holy Family Church parking lot. The winners will be announced at Library Park after the parade. The Litchfield Chamber asks that no Santas be present on any of the floats.

Following the Lighted Parade, Walgreen's of Litchfield is sponsoring free pictures with Santa at the Litchfield VFW. In addition to meeting Santa, children will enjoy cookies provided by Jubelt's and Walmart and hot chocolate provided by UJ's. Additionally, the  Litchfield Chamber will be passing out goodie bags to the children in attendance.

The townwide Christmas celebrations will culminate on Saturday, Dec. 8, with the Jingle Bell Jog 5K. Registration for the Jingle Bell Jog 5K is set for 7:30 a.m. at the Moose Lodge.

To conclude the movie-themed event, a free Christmas movie will be shown at noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, courtesy of the Westside Cinema in Litchfield.
