Litchfield native Chuck Pryor, a state trooper in Texas, is recovering after being shot on Saturday, Aug. 31, in Odessa, TX.
According to news reports, Pryor was attempting to pull the shooter over, when he was shot in the face and underwent surgery for his injuries. Originally listed in serious, but stable condition, his family posted an update and photo on Facebook, noting he was no longer intubated and was in good spirits.
A Go Fund Me account has already raised more than $38,000 of its $50,000 goal to help the family offset medical expenses as Trooper Pryor recovers.
Trooper Pryor, a 2010 graduate of Litchfield High School, is the son of Don and Cheryl Pryor of Mt. Olive. He is married to the former Bridget Ellis of Litchfield, and the couple have one son, Brayden.
The shooter has been identified as 36-year-old Seth Ator, and he was killed by police in a shootout that day. His attack killed seven people and wounded 22 others, including Trooper Pryor and two other law enforcement officials.
Family members hope Trooper Pryor will be released from the hospital later this week to begin rest and recovery from his injuries.
