Litchfield Pickers Market To Open On Mother's Day

The Litchfield Pickers Market will open for the year on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in historic downtown Litchfield.

The market begins on the corner of Union Avenue/Route 16 and State Street. Those utilizing GPS may want to use the address 400 North State Street to locate the market.

The Litchfield Pickers Market is the largest open-air pickers market in the area and specializes in antiques, collectibles, vintage and refurbished items.

In addition to the vendors peddling unique wares, musicians perform at the Library Park stage each month. Butch Moore and Alan White will kick off the May market with a live performance from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

The acoustic duo hails from central Illinois and is sure to please the ears. B & B Strings will follow with a performance from noon to 3 p.m. The dynamic trio consists of two acoustic guitars, a bass guitar and some keyboard accompaniment.

They play a wide variety of popular music, from classic rock to country.

Patrons may wish to stop by the Tourism Information Booth located on State Street in front of the library to sign the guestbook.

Volunteers manning the booth will provide information on Litchfield and answer questions about the market. They will also have a variety of Litchfield Pickers Market gear for sale including, T-shirts, hats and tote bags. Food will be available along State Street at each intersection.

There is no cost to enter the market. With multiple entry points, visitors may park around the perimeter and enter the market - just be sure to adhere to applicable parking signs.

The following roads will be closed on Sunday, May 12, from 4 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.:  State Street from Union Ave./Route 16 to the south entrance of the Brown Shoe Apartments, Ryder Street and Kirkham Street from Monroe Street to Madison Street, Edwards Street from Monroe Street to Jefferson Street, and Jackson Street from Union Ave./Route 16 to Edwards Street. Any vehicles left in these areas during this time will be towed at the owner's expense.
