In November 2018, Litchfield Unlimited Corporation (LUC) was formed as a non-profit to look at the community and address one specific need, a space where Litchfield and surrounding areas, can gather, connect, become “well."
LUC is made up of a team of individuals from the community who are passionate about the wellness of Litchfield. Each member of the board has been active in the community in various capacities and is excited to serve in a new way.
The Litchfield Unlimited Corporation board includes Chairman Mark Stieren, Co-Chairman Dan Stewart, Secretary Renee Wynn, Marci Johnson, Dr. Tracy Painter, Jerry Cruthis, Jessica Ball, Shannon Hall and Caitlin Magnuson. Those acting as advisors to the board are Mayor Steve Dougherty, Jay Niemann and Tonya Flannery.
The former home of Litchfield Creamery was purchased in November of last year by Litchfield Unlimited Corporation. The non-profit is excited to announce that it will be the future home of a family fitness and recreation center.
There have been many conversations locally about what the location will be utilized for. The intention of this facility is to create space for those who live in Litchfield and surrounding areas to have an opportunity for recreation as well as community connections. The purchase of the property was made possible by a generous donation from the Kilton Foundation.
“LUC feels privileged and honored to be a part of this project and to be instrumental in fulfilling the dream and vision of Dorothy W. Zimmerman and W. Darrell Kilton for the benefit of the whole community," said LUC Chairman Mark Stieren.
LUC will continue to be diligent to seek out the specific needs of the area as well as updating those inside and near Litchfield on the progress of the project.
Over time, they will continue to reach out to those in the area for donations to help to assist in the fulfillment of the project. The non-profit looks forward to providing an environment for everyone in the community that will assist in filling the needs of those who reside in Litchfield and surrounding areas.
One of their main goals is to create a place that local community members are proud of and excited to utilize.
