Litchfield Police Officer In Right Place At Right Time

Some observant police work by a Litchfield Police Officer led to the apprehension of an armed robber just moments after a robbery occurred at the Litchfield National Bank Route 66 Banking Center.

On Wednesday, July 10, at approximately 9 a.m., the Litchfield Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at the bank, located at 1101 West Union Avenue.

According to the press release from the Litchfield Police Department, the alleged robber didn't get too far.

"Just prior to this report, an officer patrolling the area observed an older male subject carrying a bag containing what appeared to be U.S. currency. This officer maintained visual contact with the subject as he was also exhibiting suspicious behavior," the release said.

Once the officer received the report via radio and discovered the individual matched the description of the subject, the individual, Gregory C. Stickel, 70, of Victoria, TX, was detained.

Stickel is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail in Hillsboro and is being charged with aggravated robbery.
