Lorene Neer, 93, of Greenville, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at her residence.
The family will receive guests Thursday, Nov. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Greenville. The funeral service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, with the Rev. David Bilyeu officiating. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Assalley Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Neer was born August 30, 1928, in Coffeen, the daughter of Oliver and Mamie (Cable) Nevinger. She married Robert Neer in Pierron on Jan. 3, 1947.
She graduated from Vandalia High School and worked at Greenville College for 36 years in the food service department where she enjoyed her job and was loved by the students. She was very involved in her church as a member, helping with funeral dinners, and pitching in and helping wherever needed. Mrs. Neer loved to shop, and often her husband, Robert, would sit on a bench while she strolled the stores. She enjoyed travel and eating out.
Mrs. Neer is survived by her children, Terry (wife Mary) Neer of Greenville, Bill (wife Kitty) Neer of Greenville, and Debbie Neer (husband Kenny DeMent) of Greenville; grandchildren Robbie (wife Amy) Neer, Travis Neer, Andrew (wife Whitney) Rich, Jamie (wife Veda) Neer, Aimee (husband Shannon) Edwards, Danny Neer, Ronnie Neer, Lisa Eddington, Tim (wife Trish) Sugg, Doug (wife Leighanne) Sugg, Derek (wife Christina) Sugg, Anna (husband John) Lucken; 31 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and son Stephen Neer.
