Loretta Dyson, 80, of Palmer, died at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2023, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

 Graveside ceremony was held on Saturday, May 27, at Morrisonville Cemetery. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Dyson was born on May 5, 1943, in Taylorville, the daughter of Thomas Arthur and Helen S. (Friedrich) Dyson. She graduated from Morrisonville High School with the Class of 1961, and went on to work for many years for Pepsi as a secretary.

Mrs. Dyson was an amazing daughter. Upon the death of her father, she gave up her career to take care of her mother.  They did everything together, and especially loved traveling. Mrs. Dyson was a lifelong member of the Advent Christian Church in Palmer until its closure. She was an outdoorswoman, who loved camping, fishing and was an avid cat lover too.

She was preceded in death by her parents; niece, Lisa Ann Dunkirk; and brother-in-law, Bob Bethard.

Mrs. Dyson is survived by her sisters, Sharron Bethard of Palmer and Garnetta (husband, Charles) Shanks of Taylorville; nephew, Randy (wife, Diana) Shanks of Springfield; niece, Regina (husband, Larry) Wilderman of Taylorville; and several great nieces and great nephews.
