Louis "Sam" Robert Dodds, Jr., 53, of Virginia Beach, VA, died Sunday, April 14, 2019.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Dodds was born July 29, 1965, in Hobbs, NM. He grew up in the Coffeen/Hillsboro area.
He attended Coffeen School, and was a 1983 graduate of Hillsboro High School.
A bricklayer for Local 8, he later moved to the east coast, where he worked as a fisherman. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed spending time on the beach and taking his family on boat trips.
He was a very caring man, and would stop to help anyone who needed help.
He is survived by his father, Louis (Karen) Dodds of Ft. Worth, TX; mother, Iris Dodds of Pocahontas; daughter, Jayma Dodds of Hillsboro; brothers, Arthur Dodds of Hillsboro, Eugene (Marci) Dodds of Granite City, Tyler Dodds of southern Illinois and Trevor Dodds of Ft. Sill, OK; sister, Michelle (Eldon) Niehaus of Pocahontas; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Thomas and Velma Finn; paternal grandfather, Stanley Dodds; and paternal grandparents, Stanley and Thelma Kozan.
